Qualifying round draw to be made

The 2012/13 UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying round draw is made at 14.00CET on Thursday, with 32 sides aiming for ten available places in the knockout phase.

Glasgow City will hope for another good run this season ©Glasgow City LFC   The 2012/13 UEFA Women's Champions League commences with the qualifying round from 11 to 16 August, with the draw to be made at 14.00CET on Thursday in Nyon. While the top two in the eight highest-ranked nations according to the access list, and the champions of the next six nations have received byes to the round of 32, the other entrants must compete to join those 22 clubs in the knockout phase. Qualifying round contenders include Glasgow City LFC, who reached the round of 16 last season, Swiss champions FC Zürich Frauen – who feature former UEFA Women's Cup winners Inka Grings and Sonja Fuss – sole tournament ever-presents KÍ Klaksvík and maiden Montenegrin entrants Ekonomist. The 32 sides have been ranked according to their coefficient, and one team from each of the four seeding positions will be placed in the eight groups for the draw, which will be conducted by Karen Espelund, member of the UEFA Executive Committee and chair of the UEFA Women's Football Committee, and Mikael Salzer, UEFA's head of women's and futsal competitions. Eight teams have also been designated as hosts and will be drawn from a separate pot, placed in their group according to their seeding position.
